AIS student gets top mark in entire world!
EB from our school achieved an incredible goal when she scored the highest mark in the world in her Spanish GSCE exam – the highest mark in the entire world! This is a huge achievement, given that EB is not a native speaker and many of the other entrants in the exam were. Well done to EB and to her teachers and the school

AIS Sports - March 2023
March has been an active month at Almunecar International School!
Firstly year 7 went to the municipal pool to perform swimming trials in preparation for the inter school finals.
Next it was the turn of the under 19’s girls volleyball team. They travelled to Aloha college and competed against some excellent school volleyball teams. The girls had a great day and performed superbly to qualify for the finals and finish in 4th place overall.
Within school during the closing PE lessons of the term, key stage three have been performing for their houses in pickleball ladder tournaments. It has been great this month to see such a large amount of students involved in both inter and intra school sport, well done to all students and staff involved! Mr Lavin.
Ski trip 2023
The ski trip was a massive success and 50 students from Years 8, 9 and 10 had a great time skiing in Sierra Nevada for three days, and students from years 5,6 and 7 joined us on the last day. Some new moves were learnt, both on a slopes and on the dance floor! A very big thanks to Ms Bernard for organising the trip, and to Ms Wilde, Ms Lea, Ms Kubica and Mr Reichenbach for taking the students.

School Drama Club trip to Madrid
The school drama club visited Madrid last week to visit the theatre and see Cantando Bajo la Lluvia and the Tim Burton exhibition. Everyone had a great time
KS4 trip to Genyo
International schools football competition / Torneo de colegios internacionales
Students from AIS recently took part in the Costa del Sol International Schools Football Tournament. The teams played incredibly well with the Under 13 team winning their competition! The Under 15 girls and boys both finished fourth in their groups, and should be commended for playing well in many tight finishes. All of our students showed amazing maturity and displayed the five Rs that we follow here at school. Well done everyone!
Nuestros estudiantes participaron recientemente en el Torneo Internacional de Fútbol Escolar de la Costa del Sol. Ellos jugaron increíblemente bien y el equipo Junior gano su seccion! Tanto las chicas como los chicos de Under 17 terminaron cuartos en sus grupos y jugaron muy bien en en sus partidos dificiles. Todos nuestros estudiantes mostraron una madurez asombrosa y demostraron las cinco R que seguimos aquí en la escuela. ¡Bien hecho a todos!
Year 11 Graduation
The Year 11 Graduation was a evening of fun and pride. Teachers and parents are very proud of our students, who have come a long way since starting the GCSEs in Year 10. Well done to everyone and have a great summer!

Year 13 Graduation
The Year 13 graduation was a special event. We are very proud of our students, some of who have been here since Early Years. Congratulations to you all and best of luck with the next stage of your adventures!

Alice in Wonderland!
Congratulations to all of the students who put on an amazing show of Alice in Wonderland at the Casa de la Cultura in Almuñecar. Everyone agrees that the show was an absolute success, after the two year wait since Matilda. A special thank you to Srta Diaz and Sra Jimenez for all their hard work in making the play happen!
Felicidades a todos los alumnos que montaron un increíble espectáculo de Alicia en el País de las Maravillas en la Casa de la Cultura de Almuñecar. Todo están de acuerdo en que el espectáculo fue un gran éxito, después de dos años de espera desde Matilda. ¡Un agradecimiento especial a la Srta. Díaz y la Sra. Jiménez por todo su trabajo para hacer realidad la obra!
KS4 Trip to the beach
Students from Year 10 and Year 11 recently enjoyed a day trip to the beach at La Herradura and Marina del Este. There they took part in a kayaking expedition, followed by fun on the beach and in the case of year 11, lunch in a chiringuito. Everyone had a great time, it was very nice to be able to go out again.
Los alumnos de Year 10 y Year 11 disfrutaron recientemente una excursión de la playa de La Herradura y Marina del Este. Realizaron un viaje en kayak, seguida tiempo en la playa y, en el caso de Year 11, comidan en un chiringuito. Todo lo pasó genial, y fue muy bonito para salir otra vez.
Author visit
El autor Chris Stewart, famoso por su primer exito ‘Driving Over Lemons’, visitó recientemente nuestro colegio. Habló sobre una amplia gama de temas y animó a los estudiantes a hacerle preguntas. Los alumnos hicieron preguntas inteligentes y fascinantes. Después, Chris dirigió un taller de escritura creativa, y las respuestas leídas fueron extraordinariamente creativas!
Los estudiantes y Chris tuvieron una mañana maravillosa y fue fantástico ver a los estudiantes juntos disfrutando de la sabiduría de un autor publicado.
Author Chris Stewart, famed for his debut best-selling novel Driving Over Lemons, recently visited school today, where he spoke about a wide range of topics and encouraged students to ask him questions. Pupils asked intelligent and fascinating questions including what inspires him. Chris followed this by leading a creative writing workshop, and students rose to and the responses read out were outstandingly creative!
Students, staff and Chris alike had a wonderful morning and it was fantastic to see students together again enjoying the wisdom of a published author.
KS3 Sports Day and trip to the beach
KS3 have also recently enjoyed a trip outside school. First was the Sports Day where the students competed in a variety of events, followed by a trip to the beach, and fun with water pistols.
KS3 también han disfrutado un viaje fuera de la escuela. Primero fue el Día del Deporte – los estudiantes compitieron en una variedad de eventos, seguido de un viaje a la playa y diversión con pistolas de agua.
KS1 Sports Day
The students in KS1 had a great time at their sports day. Everyone had a lot of fun, and congratulations to the Green team, who won the trophy, and also to everyone for taking part!

KS2 Sports Day
Primary Sports Day was a great success. All of the students really enjoyed themselves competing in a number of sports and activities and a massive congratulations to Blue House who won the overall competition.

Year 1 and 2 School trip!
Finally! Years 1 and 2 have been on a school trip to the beach, the first in two years! Everyone had a fantastic time and for the teachers it was so great to be able to take the children out of school again. We can’t wait for the next time!!!

Year 5 - Science and Art
Year 5 have been taking part in many activities recently, including building bridges inspired by Brunel, making experiments with sound and learning about the painting style of William Morris.
