KS3 Writing competition
Three weeks ago, Key Stage 3 were invited to participate in our inaugural writing competition. All they were given to prompt their inspiration was a picture of a dog named Alfie, happily running down the beach. They had two weeks to submit their entries.
Classes included Year 7Y, Year 7X, Year 8Y, Year 8X, Year 9Y and Year 9X. The judges went through a meticulous process of assiduously reading and evaluating every single entry. Our criteria included: Creativity (thinking outside the box), punctuation and grammar (to a certain degree!), varied sentence structure and captivating vocabulary. The judges have enjoyed this entertaining experience. We hope you share that enjoyment with us!
All winners will be notified on the 29th October. Thank you to Key Stage 3 for sharing their talent with us!
Students bring food to school for Caritas
As part of ‘Spain Day’ held at school on May 28th, the students were asked by Year 9 to bring in donations of food for Caritas in Almuñécar. Families were very generous and we collected over four shopping trollies full of food. Thanks to everyone involved, especially parents for donating food, and Mrs Buckley, Mr Buckley, Ms Alvarez and Mr Reichenbach for organising the collection. Caritas are very happy with our donation and also say a big thank you.
Como parte del ‘Día de España’ celebrado en el colegio el 28 de mayo, Year 9 pidió a los alumnos que trajeran donaciones de comida para Caritas en Almuñécar. Las familias fueron muy generosas y recolectamos más de cuatro carritos de compras llenos de comida. Gracias a todos los involucrados, especialmente a los padres por donar alimentos, y Mrs Buckley, Mr Buckley, Ms Alvarez y Mr Reichenbach por organizar la colección. Caritas está muy contenta con nuestra donación y también les da las gracias.
Spain day was a big success and students came to school dressed in their brighest Spanish colours. Year 8 spent their PE lessons playing the Basque game Pelota.
El día de España fue un gran éxito y los estudiantes llegaron a la escuela vestidos con sus colores españoles más brillantes. Year 8 pasó sus clases de educación física jugando al vasco Pelota.
AIS students recognised in SUR in English competition
Congratulations to two of our students whose artwork won awards in a competition run by SUR in English. Well done!

School Christmas jumper day
The students wore Christmas jumpers to school to remind us all about having fun ahead of Chrstmas.
Los estudiantes usaron jerseys navideños en la escuela para recordarnos que debemos divertirnos antes de la Navidad.
