AS and A2 BUSINESS STUDIES

EXAM BOARD: Cambridge

Most people will be employed in an organisation of some type at a point in their life and this course is designed to give you an understanding of organisations, their external environment and their markets.

The syllabus is divided into 6 main topic areas that are taught at AS and then built on at A2.  These are Business and its environment, People in organisations, Marketing, Operations and project management, Finance and accounting also Strategic management.  The subject has an international outlook but retains local relevance.

The course is assessed by 2 examinations in Year 12 and one examination in Year 13.
You may not become the next Bill Gates with A level Business Studies but it will provide you with the knowledge and understanding of business behaviour and encourage you to think critically about business activity.
After this course you can either do a degree in Business or in one of the specialist areas such as marketing, finance, human resources etc.

IGCSE BUSINESS STUDIES

EXAM BOARD: Cambridge

This is a 2 year course and is the study of businesses and how they operate within their environment. You will learn about how today´s businesses carry out the functions of finance, marketing, people and operations.
The course also looks at how external influences affect business and how businesses react to these. You will also look at the objectives and strategies that businesses adopt.
In year 11 you will do a written assessment that is worth 25% of your marks and 2 examinations.
A range of teaching methods are used to encourage active student involvement in your learning.
