The KS3 programme aims to provide a coherence between the Primary Years Programme and the GCSE\/ A level Programmes.<\/em><\/p>

We want to help our students develop from children to young adults, to become enquiring, knowledgeable and emotionally literate: to have a genuine understanding of other cultures and to care about what\u2019s going on in the rest of the world. We want our students to learn how to learn, to research and evaluate information critically.<\/em><\/p>

During our middle years program our students work with teachers to set targets and review progress against these personalised goals. All work is continuously assessed, with regular reports sent home to help support and monitor progress. We introduce formal examinations oral and written to prepare for the KS4 programme.<\/em><\/p>

A popular subject is that of Creative & Performance. Students from Years 7, 8 and 9 are grouped and experience a variety of courses over the 3 years including: Sports Leaders, creative science, music, dance, drama, filmmaking and editing. Each year we aim to have a production at the Casa de la Cultura, Almu\u00f1\u00e9car. This year it will be a version of Alice in Wonderland.<\/em><\/p>

El programa KS3 tiene como objetivo proporcionar una coherencia entre el Programa de la Escuela Primaria y los Programas de nivel GCSE \/ A.<\/em><\/p>

Queremos ayudar a nuestros estudiantes a desarrollarse desde ni\u00f1os hasta adultos j\u00f3venes, a volverse inquisitivos, informados y emocionalmente alfabetizados: tener una comprensi\u00f3n genuina de otras culturas y preocuparse por lo que est\u00e1 sucediendo en el resto del mundo. Queremos que nuestros estudiantes aprendan a aprender, a investigar y evaluar la informaci\u00f3n de manera cr\u00edtica.<\/em><\/p>

Durante nuestro programa de a\u00f1os intermedios, nuestros estudiantes trabajan con los maestros para establecer objetivos y revisar el progreso en comparaci\u00f3n con estos objetivos personalizados. Todo el trabajo se eval\u00faa continuamente, con informes peri\u00f3dicos enviados a casa para ayudar a respaldar y monitorear el progreso. Introducimos ex\u00e1menes formales orales y escritos para prepararnos para el programa KS4.<\/em><\/p>

Un tema popular es el de creatividad y rendimiento. Los estudiantes de Year 7, 8 y 9 se agrupan y experimentan una variedad de cursos durante los 3 a\u00f1os que incluyen: L\u00edderes deportivos, ciencia creativa, m\u00fasica, danza, teatro, realizaci\u00f3n de pel\u00edculas y edici\u00f3n. In Year 7 we focus on the transition to secondary school, building on primary achievements and ensuring that students feel socially and emotionally secure as they enter their journey through adolescence. All aspects of the year 7 curriculum reflect upon the social and emotional aspects of learning. During Year 7 students continue to follow a common curriculum, which includes the following subjects: English, Mathematics, Science, Spanish Studies, German or French, Opening Minds (History, Geography, Philosophy and Belief) Art,\u00a0Computing\u00a0and Physical Education. PSHE is taught during specific lessons following an age-related curriculum, the main focus being\u00a0on social and emotional health and well being.<\/span><\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

Year 8 is the second year of Key Stage 3 studies. Students build on the good habits learnt in Year 7 and work towards reaching their Key Stage 3 targets. We begin to develop examination techniques and study skills during this year.<\/span>
During Year 8 students continue to follow a common curriculum, which includes the following subjects: English, Mathematics, Science, Spanish Studies, an additional modern foreign language, History, Geography, Art, Opening Minds, Computing and Physical Education. PSHE is taught during specific lessons following an age-related curriculum, the main focus being\u00a0on Philosophy and Ethics as well as\u00a0Learning to Learn.<\/span><\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

Year 9 is the final year of the students\u2019 Key Stage 3 studies. It is a busy and very important year in which students will take examinations in the core subjects of English, Mathematics and Science. They will also be choosing their GCSE courses for Year 10 and 11. In some subjects we begin GCSE programmes of study during the Summer\u00a0term.<\/span>
During Year 9 students continue to follow a common curriculum, which includes the following subjects: English, Mathematics, Science, Spanish studies, a modern foreign language, History, Geography, Art, Drama, Computing\u00a0and Physical Education. Career Planning is taught during PSHE.<\/span><\/p>

Year 9 students sit the Cambridge Checkpoint tests in English, Maths and Science. Cambridge Checkpoint tests have been designed to assess learning at the end of Cambridge Secondary 1. They give valuable feedback on learners\u2019 strengths and weaknesses before they progress to the next stage of education. The tests provide schools with an external international benchmark for learner performance.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

Year 9 es el \u00faltimo a\u00f1o de los estudios de Key Stage 3 de los estudiantes. Es un a\u00f1o ocupado y muy importante en el que los estudiantes tomar\u00e1n ex\u00e1menes en las materias b\u00e1sicas de Ingl\u00e9s, Matem\u00e1ticas y Ciencias. Tambi\u00e9n elegir\u00e1n sus cursos de GCSE para los a\u00f1os 10 y 11. En algunas materias, comenzamos los programas de estudio de GCSE durante el per\u00edodo de verano.

La planificaci\u00f3n de carrera se ense\u00f1a durante PSHE.<\/p>

Los alumnos de Year 9 realizan las pruebas Cambridge Checkpoint en ingl\u00e9s, matem\u00e1ticas y ciencias. Las pruebas Cambridge Checkpoint se han dise\u00f1ado para evaluar el aprendizaje al final de Cambridge Secondary 1. Brindan informaci\u00f3n valiosa sobre las fortalezas y debilidades de los alumnos antes de que progresen a la siguiente etapa de educaci\u00f3n.
