The approach to Science at AIS is of harnessing the students\u00b4 natural curiosity and enthusiasm. We involve students of all abilities by utilising a variety of activities in each lesson; practical investigation, models, discussion, computer simulations, data-logging and research, and activities which are designed to raise thinking skills. Students are encouraged to enjoy the subject while working hard, and at a pace which sustains interest. Regular homework and topic tests reinforce the learning and allow us to monitor progress. The department has two laboratories for KS3, 4 and 5, a preparation room, and a small laboratory which is used for some sixth form Science teaching. We have specialist teachers for each branch of Science and a laboratory technician.<\/p>

Students are taught to the National Curriculum via the Cambridge Science scheme for Secondary 1. They take Secondary 1 Checkpoint tests in Year 9.<\/p>

In Year 10 and 11 we teach either Cambridge \u00a0IGCSE Coordinated Science or 3 separate Sciences; Biology, Physics and Chemistry.<\/p>

AS and A2 courses in Biology, Chemistry and Physics are offered to students who achieve a minimum of grade B in IGCSE Sciences. These are taught by well qualified and experienced teachers.<\/p>

We are constantly looking to improve our resources to support the already excellent standards of teaching and learning at this level.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

El enfoque de las ciencias en el AIS consiste en aprovechar la curiosidad y el entusiasmo naturales de los alumnos. Involucramos a estudiantes de todas las capacidades mediante la utilizaci\u00f3n de una variedad de actividades en cada lecci\u00f3n: investigaci\u00f3n pr\u00e1ctica, modelos, discusi\u00f3n, simulaciones por ordenador, registro de datos e investigaci\u00f3n, y actividades que est\u00e1n dise\u00f1adas para aumentar las habilidades de pensamiento. Se anima a los alumnos a que disfruten de la asignatura trabajando duro y a un ritmo que mantenga el inter\u00e9s. Los deberes y ex\u00e1menes peri\u00f3dicos refuerzan el aprendizaje y nos permiten controlar los progresos. El departamento cuenta con dos laboratorios para KS3, 4 y 5, una sala de preparaci\u00f3n y un peque\u00f1o laboratorio que se utiliza para algunas clases de Ciencias de sexto curso. Tenemos profesores especializados para cada rama de Ciencias y un t\u00e9cnico de laboratorio.<\/p>

Los alumnos siguen el plan de estudios nacional a trav\u00e9s del programa de Cambridge Science para 1\u00ba de Secundaria. En 9\u00ba curso se examinan de las pruebas de control de 1\u00ba de Secundaria.<\/p>

En Year 10 y 11 ense\u00f1amos o bien Cambridge IGCSE Coordinated Science o 3 Ciencias por separado: Biolog\u00eda, F\u00edsica y Qu\u00edmica.<\/p>

Los cursos AS y A2 en Biolog\u00eda, Qu\u00edmica y F\u00edsica se ofrecen a los estudiantes que logran un m\u00ednimo de grado B en Ciencias IGCSE. Estos cursos son impartidos por profesores bien cualificados y con experiencia.
