All students in Key Stage 3 participate in Physical Education for 1 hour and 40 minutes per week (2 x 50 minute sessions).

All students in Key Stage 4 have a core 50 minute lesson. In addition, some students choose to study Sports Science.

Pupils are taught in mixed ability classes with mixed and single sex lessons.

Pupils acquire and develop skills, knowledge and understanding predominantly within games

IGCSE Sports Science :

Pupils who choose to study IGCSE PE (Cambridge Syllabus) follow a theoretical and practical course. Within theoretical studies the students learn about the human body systems in sport, health and fitness, factors affecting participation and develop an individual piece of coursework as they plan and perform their own training programme.

Within the practical area of study students learn to coach, analyse, control and manage sporting events and have opportunities to participate in all activities plus swimming and athletics

KS3:

All pupils participate in a range of activities including:

  • Tag rugby
  • Rounders
  • Cricket
  • Fitness
  • Aerobics
  • Dance
